About SPS

SPS Companies, Inc. was established in 1951, and is a wholesale distributor of products and services for residential and commercial plumbing, mechanical and industrial piping, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and fire protection. 

We currently have seven plumbing locations in Minnesota (Duluth, Mankato, St. Cloud, St. Louis Park, St. Paul), North Dakota (Bismarck), and Colorado (Denver), with SPS Kitchen and Bath Showrooms featured at our St. Louis Park, Mankato, and Bismarck locations. Each showroom features the latest styles and designs in kitchen and bath fixtures and are utilized by a variety of customers including builders, contractors, plumbers, homeowners, and more. 

Our fire protection division offers fire protection products such as pipe fittings, valves, sprinkler heads, pipe hangers, and fire protection accessories, as well as pipe fabrication services. This division has six locations, five of which offer materials and fabrication and one that stocks materials only. Four locations are doing business as SPS Fire Protection: Blue Springs, MO, Johnston, IA, Howells, NE, and Wichita, KS. Our Wichita location is materials only. Two locations are doing business as Pipe Fabricators in Maple Grove, MN, and Oak Creek, WI.

Our SPS Metals division, previously known as Interstate Manufacturing and Supply, has been the one stop supplier to the professional roofing, sheet metal, and plumbing contractors for their specialty copper and architectural metal needs since 1977.

SPS is an Employee Owned Company (ESOP) and has been since 1989. Our employees have a vested interest in SPS, which leads to greater motivation and productivity as they are really “owners” rather than “employees”. This ownership mentality filters down to the customer level, so when a customer calls or stops in at SPS they are being served by people who are self-inclined to deliver the best service possible.
